‘Oh the cruelty of creation’

Yesterday we had the first listening evening of all the new songs. We made 12 songs in total. This first session is meant for mixing purposes. We listen, we tell each other what is good in the song and what is not. This way, Bart en Dre have some guidelines for the final mixing process. Because we tried a lot of different things for this album our main concern is getting a record that sound consistent rather than fragmented. That’s why we try to be as critical as possible. Allthough we are not ready to decide which songs will make it to the album we can’t help but make endless track-lists for our new album.  Especially Chris, he really loves sequencing.

In the proces of listening an enjoying the sound of our own music, it suddenly dawned on me. I’m very afraid that we will have to kill some of our darlings. Personally, I like every new song we made. But in order to create a consistent piece of music, some songs probably will not fit the puzzle. So the things you create, end up being a danger to itself and the rest of your creation. eeeuhhh, yeah, you still following me?

oh, before I forget! for those of you who love Twitter, our username is ‘audiotransparen‘ … Yes it’s ‘audiotransparen’  stupid Twitter won’t allow enough letters to get the full band-name as a username. Ah well. you win some, you lose some.
